农民康有的媳妇生了孩子,因为是旧法接生,得了产后风,孩子也生了病.康有去请巫神,但巫神的孩子也正在病着,巫神自己并不欺骗自己,他把孩子送到医务所去治疗,根本没花钱,就治好了病.而他自己却到康有家跳大神,结果大人的病越来越重,孩子被折磨死了.巫神临走时,还拿走了康家不少的东西和财物.但康有并未因此相信科学,他又请来了巫神给媳妇瞧香.康有舅舅在庙会上听巫神的姑妈讲巫神骗人的把戏,才请来了医生给康有妻治好了病.过了两年,康有妻生第二个孩子时,请姥姥用旧法接生,结果大人和孩子又病倒了,还是医生治好了他们的病,使他们明白了有病要让医生来治的道理.村里人也逐渐明白起来,医务所越来越忙了..
