农村女孩杨念念（程瑶瑶 饰）因家境贫寒从大学辍学，一个署名“微尘”的好心人资助她一万元钱，希望她读完大学，就在这时，母亲（王静 饰）患了重病，她想用这笔钱为母亲做手术，但倔犟的母亲说什么也不答应，要她把钱退给捐助的好心人。为给母亲筹钱治病，她来到酒店打工，酒店老板（倪萍 饰）得知了她的遭遇后暗中帮助她。电台主持人（李婷 饰）将她母女的不幸全城直播，岛城纷纷以“微尘”的名义捐款，很快凑足了手术费用。手术过程中血液告急，出租车司机梁波（黄渤 饰）和杜磊（张磊 饰）赶到医院献血，交通警察（黄哓明 饰）为了救人，用摩托车开道把献血的志愿者护送到医院，爱心接力在岛城全面展开......
